The construction phase is well under way on the new East Library and Recreation Center in east Arlington.

The $26 million facility, approved by voters in the 2014 bond election, will open this fall at Bob Cooke Park, 2025 Craig Hanking Dr. The 47,249-square-feet building, which includes an outdoor innovation zone, an indoor pool and other amenities, will replace the current Hugh Smith Recreation Center.

You can read about this project and more in the latest edition of the Champion Great Neighborhoods newsletter. The Arlington City Council has identified Champion Great Neighborhoods as one of five key priorities.
