Census Video Challenge

Put your creativity to the test. The U.S. Census Bureau is inviting the public to compete in its "Get Out the Count" video challenge.

Entries should run between 30 seconds and three minutes and focus on the importance of responding to the 2020 Census. The first place winner will receive $30,000. The runner-up will receive $10,000. There is also a student prize valued at $10,000.

Video themes can range from comedic to inspirational, but entries need to include relevant facts. The deadline for submissions is 10:59 p.m., May 7, 2020. Click here to see the full contest rules and guidelines.

The results of the 2020 Census will determine how congressional representation and billions of dollars in federal funding are distributed to states and cities for schools, roads, hospitals and more.

The U.S. Census Bureau is working to include non-traditional outreach methods, including the video competition winners, to reach historically-undercounted communities during the coronavirus pandemic. These groups include racial and ethnic minorities, young and mobile populations and families with young children.

As of April 30, 2020, Arlington had a self-response rate of 56.1 percent — approximately 76,000 households. That is ahead of Texas (49.6 percent) and the United States (54.6 percent.) If you haven't completed your 2020 Census, visit 2020census.gov.
