Through a collaboration with Arlington Animal Services, Best Friends Animal Society will offer registered rescue partners a $125 incentive for each ‘VIP Rescue Only’ shelter pet they rescue through July 23, 2021.

This innovative incentive program aims at providing support to local and regional rescue agencies who are also navigating some of the same lifesaving challenges that Arlington Animal Services and other shelters across the country are working to solve.

“As everyone adjusts to life opening back up, paired with the peak intake numbers during the summer, shelters are having an increasingly difficult time housing and placing the high numbers of animals coming to the shelters for help,” said Ashley Woolnough, Arlington Animal Services manager.  “We are thankful for the incentive partnership with Best Friends to help ease the financial burden for our rescue partners when they pull a VIP pet from our shelter.”

“Rescues already dedicate so much of their time to save animals, so if we can provide some financial support to help them with animal care and placement, we are happy to do so,” said Paula Powell, Best Friends South Central Senior Manager. “In addition, this program will also help Animal Services by freeing up space at the shelter at a time when they expect to see more pets entering the facility.”

To qualify for the incentives, local and regional rescue partners must be registered and approved to pull pets from Arlington Animal Services and must rescue a shelter pet listed as VIP Rescue Only.  Program will end on July 23.
