Arrest Made in Homicide - Report #2020-00010121

On Friday, January 24, 2020, the Arlington Police Department was notified of an arrest made in the murder of Cedric Dawkins which occurred on January 1, 2020. Antonio Garcia, 27-years of age, was arrested in Los Angeles, California by the US Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Task Force with help from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office without incident. He was charged with one count of Murder.

Arlington detectives quickly identified Garcia as the suspect and worked with federal authorities to track his whereabouts. The department will work on the extradition of Garcia back to Tarrant County.

The Arlington Police Department responded to a shooting call in the 2300 block of Streambed Court on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 around 1:09 am. Upon arrival, officers located a 29-year old adult male lying in his apartment with multiple gunshot wounds. The man was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. 

Investigators are canvassing the area in search of witnesses and surveillance video, and believe the victim may have been involved in high risk activity.

The victim will be identified through the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office once next of kin have been notified.
