Celebrate all children and cultures at our annual Día de los Niños event also known as Children’s Day. This event will take place Thursday, April 29 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at the East Library and Recreation Center, 1817 New York Ave. Families are invited to celebrate the importance of literacy for children from all linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

Día de los Niños is an afternoon come and go event, all activities are planned with safety in mind. Families can spread out to social distance while they participate. We encourage all adults and children ages 10+ to wear masks while doing the activities. Curbside service will also be available for attendees, call us at 817-459-6900 and staff will take a special take-home kit to your car.

“Culture, heritage and language are powerful tools for strengthening families and communities,” Librarian Yuliana Aceves said. “We’re linking children and their families to diverse books, languages, and cultures to support learning.”

Families can enjoy the following activities:

  • Free books and kits
  • Chalk activity
  • 3D pens
  • Spheros
  • Imagination Playground

The recently opened East Library and Recreation Center is a tech-centered community facility. Library staff hosts a variety of events year-round, children can enjoy our Spanish and Arabic storytimes, Sphero Saturdays, and Art Pod sessions.
