Book Aisle at Library

Beginning April 20, 2020, the Arlington Public Library is offering curbside item pickup. Items will be available to pick up from all locations in touchless transactions.

“Here at the Arlington Public Library, we always strive to remove barriers to access in our community,” says Director of Libraries Norma Zuñiga. “Curbside pickup will provide materials to patrons who are at home, especially for families with children who cannot return to school.”

Curbside pickup will be available at all library locations from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. Follow these simple steps to pick up items.

  1. Place an item on hold through arlingtonlibrary.org
  2. When your items are ready, we’ll notify you by email, phone, or text message, depending on your account preference
  3. Drive to the library and park in the designated curbside pick-up parking lane.
  4. Call 817-459-6900 to let library staff know you are there to pick up your items.  We will ask for your Library card number so that your book can be checked out. Provide staff with the make, model and color of your car.
  5. Library staff will place your items on a designated table, then stand at door of building and watch while you pick up your items. Library staff will disinfect all items and surfaces after pick up.
  6. Enjoy your books!
  7. When you’re done with your items, return them through the outdoor book drop.

After being returned to a book drop, all library items are going through a quarantine process. Only items that have been quarantined will be filled for holds.

Patrons who do not wish to take advantage of the service will have their items held until we reopen.

To expand access during this time, patrons can use this service if their account has under $100 in fines.

Patrons can pick up 10 items per car per visit. Bulky items that are too large to be returned through book drops are not available for curbside pickup. Items that are not usually available for placing holds are also not eligible for this service. These items include:

  • Kits
  • Backpacks
  • Technical equipment such as laptops
  • Board books
  • Reference books
  • Magazines

Library staff is available for help with holds, accounts and more. Give us a call at 817-459-6900 from Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can also click here to ask your question online.

Want to check out items but don’t have an account? Arlington, Mansfield and Kennedale residents can always apply for a free library card! Click here to apply online.
