Hundreds of residents turned out Thursday for the City of Arlington’s 5th annual Aging Well Expo at the Esports Stadium Arlington & Expo Center.

The Aging Well Expo, a free, one-day event geared for adults ages 50 and up, featured more than 100 vendors, fitness demonstrations, health screenings, educational presentations and much more.

“The reason we host this event each year is to provide our residents the ability to invest in their health and learn more about the City’s services and programs for housing, volunteerism, health and fitness. We are so excited to return to an in-person event this year,” Arlington Mayor Jim Ross said during the welcome.

This year’s keynote speaker was Cowboys Legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Drew Pearson speaking on behalf of WellMed, one of the Expo’s generous presenting sponsors. After his Q&A session with Jim Jones, chief growth officer with WellMed, Pearson signed autographs and took photos with expo participants.

“I think it’s great that Arlington is stepping up and hosting this event. For senior citizens, it will be like a one-stop shopping event for them where they can come and find out what fits them the best. That is what WellMed and USMD is all about, customizing relationships with doctors through those patients. I’m a senior citizens, sometimes it is very intimidating to go through the process and find doctors you trust. Through WellMed and USMD and events like this, senior citizens can know what’s available to them.”

Lindsey Olaiya, vice president of sales for UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement, kicked off the expo with an engaging discussion about changes to the Medicare Advantage Program. UnitedHealthcare was a co-presenting sponsor for this year’s event.

“The Aging Well Expo gives us an opportunity to be in front of our seniors, people we know, people we might not know and people we get to meet at this event,” said Butch Headding, licensed sales agent with UnitedHealthcare. “This is a marquee event for the City of Arlington.”

Throughout the Aging Well Expo, participants took advantage of numerous health screenings, including prostate screenings, mammograms, well woman exams, take home colon cancer test kits, blood and sugar and cholesterol tests, hearing evaluations, fall risk assessments and much more.

The Aging Well Expo planning committee extends its thanks to this year’s sponsors, United Healthcare, WellMed Optum Care, CenterWell Senior Primary Care, Meadowbrook Memory Care, Care N Care Insurance Company, WellCare, Celebration Magazine, The Orchards at Arlington Highlands (United Group of Companies), David Nicklas Organ Donor Awareness Foundation, Amerigroup and Legacy Living Memory Care.
