The Public Works and Transportation Department is pleased to announce that work to rebuild five aging residential streets in east Arlington is under way. Over the next 15 months, the department will work with the Arlington Water Utilities Department and a third-party consultant to design improvements to the following streets:

Brookshire Street (Carter Drive to Greenway Street)
Catalo Lane (Carter Drive to SH 360)
Hensley Street (Collins Street to Moore Terrace)
Randolph Street (Sunnyvale Drive to Lackland Street)
Stonegate Street (Carter Drive to Buena Vista Drive)

Using a rating system that measures the extent and severity of ride comfort and pavement distress, the City of Arlington identifies streets most in need of rebuilding under the annual bond-funded Residential Rebuild Program. Under this program, residents on targeted streets can look forward to 1.89 lane miles of new concrete streets, improved sidewalks, streetlights, and water and sewer line improvements.

The design phase is expected to be completed in Fall 2020, with construction anticipated to begin spring 2021 and be completed in summer 2022.

Funding for this project was approved by Arlington voters as part of the 2014 Bond Program and aligns with City Council’s priorities to Enhance Regional Mobility and Champion Great Neighborhoods.
