The 2019 North Texas Giving Day kickoff event was held June 3, 2019, at Texas Live! in Arlington.

Communities Foundation of Texas and hundreds of Tarrant County nonprofits celebrated the kickoff of the 2019 North Texas Giving Day during a special event Monday morning at Texas Live! in Arlington.

More than 670 Tarrant County nonprofit organizations, including dozens from Arlington, are already registered for this year’s North Texas Giving Day, set for Sept. 19. North Texas Giving Day is an 18-hour online event designed to build awareness for nonprofits and encourage philanthropy on one easy-to-use platform. The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation also hosts its annual fundraising event to support local nonprofits, which includes a free community concert at Levitt Pavilion in Downtown, on the same day.

“The Foundation has been a proud sponsor of North Texas Giving Day for several years and a key lever in bringing the nation’s largest Giving Day to the donors and nonprofits of Arlington,” said Mayor Jeff Williams, who is also Arlington Tomorrow Foundation Board president. “Through North Texas Giving Day the community has rallied around our local nonprofits and we have seen significant growth over the years. Since 2015, funds raised for Arlington nonprofits has grown from $500,000 to almost $1.6 million.”

Last year, North Texas Giving Day raised more than $48 million for about 2,700 nonprofits. During the event, about 81,000 donors made 157,000 gifts. Over the past 10 years, this charitable movement has pumped more than $240 million into the region and is one of the nation’s largest communitywide giving events, according to the Communities Foundation of Texas.

Texas Live!, which hosted Monday’s kickoff event, is one of the newest sponsors of North Texas Giving Day with an $21,000 in-kind sponsorship.
