Hundreds of people gathered at Ben Thanh Plaza this weekend to enjoy colorful costumed dancers, music and other activities as part of the Tarrant County Asian American Chamber of Commerce's annual Eggroll Festival, Business Expo, and Health Care event.

The festival, held on Saturday, Sept. 29, celebrated Asian-American businesses and culture and raised awareness about valuable resources available to the community. In addition to dancers, festivalgoers enjoyed diverse cuisine, health screenings, and the opportunity to mingle with other community members.

Emma Berez and her family watched in awe as the various performers took the stage, and said that she was there to celebrate Arlington's many cultures.

"When I heard about the festival, I knew I wanted to bring my daughters," said Berez. "It is important that my daughters are exposed to many cultures, and I think it is wonderful that we have all come together to celebrate the Asian-American community."

Local hospitals and health care centers set up tables to offer attendees free health screenings and vaccinations.

Van Truong, a festival volunteer with the UNT Health Science Center, said that providing health care at the Eggroll Festival gives many the opportunity to receive services that they otherwise would not have access to.

"People here come from many different places," Truong said, "It is important to come together and recognize that we are all members of one community."
