Levitt-Prophets-and-Outlaws

Friday, June 21

Family Movie Night at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 21, is Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, presented by Jim Austin Online. Four high school students discover an old video game console and are drawn into the game's jungle setting, literally becoming the adult avatars they chose. What they discover is that you don't just play Jumanji - you must survive it. To beat the game and return to the real world, they'll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, discover what Alan Parrish left 20 years ago and change the way they think about themselves, or they'll be stuck in the game forever. The movie is rated PG-13.

Born in Dallas, Prophets and Outlaws is a band comprised of brothers and friends whose broad musical tastes have put them all over the Texas music charts and in front of thousands of fans. They bring their Southern rock to Levitt Pavilion Arlington at 8 p.m. Friday, June 22, presented by Arlington Highlands.

Prophets and Outlaws got their first big break when they won the 2013 Ranch Factor contest presented by Fort Worth radio station, The Ranch. Other stations across the Midwest jumped at the opportunity to add their left-of-center sound to their playlists. Prophets and Outlaws has four EPs, three Top 20 singles on the Texas Music Chart and performed at some of the major music events in Texas, including the main stage at the renowned Larry Joe Taylor Music Fest and Dallas' American Airlines Center on New Year's Eve.

Saturday, June 23

During the Levitt's first mini-season of 16 concerts in 2008, a band with a funky name, Mingo Fishtrap, blew everyone away with their gritty, bluesy sound. They have returned to the Levitt several times since, but not since 2015. Mingo Fishtrap returns to the Levitt at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 23, presented by Hooligan's and Kool Keg. Mingo has honed its sound, rubbed shoulders with musical idols, and delivered powerhouse live shows to thousands across the globe since the band's inception in a tiny dorm room in Denton. Texas Music magazine calls them " ... the space where melodic pop meets gritty Memphis soul, with a twist of N'awlins funk."

Sunday, June 24

Tejano music is big in Texas, and five-time Grammy nominees, Jaime y los Chamacos, has the kind of popularity that can be directly attributed to more than 30 years of talent and audience appeal to all ages in Texas, Mexico and across the country. After their crowd-pleasing performance last concert season, they return to the Levitt stage at 8 p.m. Sunday, June 24. Creative choreography, including gravity-defying spins while simultaneously playing the accordion and singing, is the trademark of lead vocalist and accordion player, Jaime De Anda. He and the Chamacos have appeared on Telemundo and Univision, and their recordings range from gold to platinum, including reaching number one on both the Tejano and Latin charts in Billboard magazine. Other achievements include three Latin Grammy nominations, Male Entertainer of the Year and Conjunto of the Year in the Valley's Choice Awards, and Tejano Globe Awards' Best Male Entertainer and Best Conjunto of the Year. Their concert is presented by a grant from the Arlington Cultural Tourism Council.
