On the Clock is a show that gives residents an inside look at the hard work city employees do every day to make Arlington a better community to live, learn, work and play.

This month's episode, hosted by City Manager Trey Yelverton, gives residents a behind-the-scenes look at the Water Utilities Department's water tower maintenance process.

Arlington has 10 elevated storage tanks, or water towers, located throughout the city, with capacities from 1 million to 2.5 million gallons each. The tanks allow Arlington Water to maintain consistent water pressure throughout the city during peaks in water demand and provide backup water supplies during fires and other emergencies.

Keeping the City's water towers functional is very important, so climbing the tanks to survey the condition or conduct maintenance is all part of a day's work for some employees in the Arlington Water Utilities Department.

Earlier this year, Arlington Water Utilities kicked off projects focused on two of the city's elevated storage tanks. Work on the Golden West and Tierra Verde (featured in this month's episode) water towers began in January. Click here to read more about the improvement projects.
