Thinking about buying a new home? Register now for the City of Arlington's 3rd annual Homeownership Fair to learn more about buying a home in today's real estate market, down payment assistance programs, credit repair and other topics.
The Homeownership Fair is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 21 at the Arlington Convention Center, 1200 Ballpark Way.
This event will offer informational sessions on topics such as mortgage lending, foreclosure prevention, affordable housing programs, weatherization, energy savings, insurance, city home repair programs and more. Residents will have the opportunity to interact one-on-one with exhibitors from mortgage lenders, real estate agents, housing specialists, and city personnel.
"Homeownership is part of the American Dream," said Debra Meers, Director of Marketing for Viridian, an event sponsor. "Homeowners experience numerous financial and social benefits, and compared to renters' experience, more financial security and civic engagement. Communities such as Viridian also contribute to the local economy. Homeowners typically buy multiple homes over their lifetime and in the process, contribute to economic growth and job creation. It's a win for everyone."
Lunch will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis and attendees are encouraged register online in order to win door prizes. Activities will be available for children ages 6 and up, including a Home Depot workshop, Arlington Library story time and free play, and Parks and Recreation activities. A game truck will also be available for pre-teens and teens.
The Homeownership Fair aligns with the Arlington City Council priority to Champion Great Neighborhoods in The American Dream City as well as provide a valuable service to Arlington residents. This event enables households to invest in their future, brings a sense of community and stabilization to neighborhoods, and promotes a healthy living environment while building strong communities.
Register between today and July 13, 2018, to be guaranteed a free lunch; otherwise registration is not required. Walk-in guests are welcome. Parking is free.
