The City of Arlington's autonomous shuttle service, Milo, is marking a big milestone next weekend.
Arlington is planning for the 100th operation of the self-driving shuttle, which first rolled out in Entertainment District last August. The City is operating these electric shuttles on off-street trails in the Entertainment District as part of a one-year pilot program to explore autonomous transportation technology in a real-world setting.
Looking for a chance to check out this innovative technology? The City is now booking free rides for the public between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 28. Those who are interested must reserve their ride online at www.arlingtontx.gov/milo.
Because seating is limited, rides are only guaranteed to those individuals who receive confirmation by email from the City. Rides can be booked for between 1 and 8 passengers per time slot. Riders will be able to participate in the survey about their experience.
In addition to public demonstration events, the Milo shuttles operate approximately one hour before and one hour after major events at AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Park in Arlington. The shuttles are programmed to run along select off-street trails in Richard Greene Linear Park and Robert Cluck Linear Park between the two venues and will pick up and drop off passengers at designated stops.
The City will soon transition to on-street testing of autonomous vehicles, with service anticipated to be available in the Entertainment District for the general public this coming fall. Milo will be available for rides through August 2018.
