A new professional sports team will soon call The American Dream City home.

The City and Rangers recently celebrated the announcement that one of eight XFL football teams will begin playing at Globe Life Park in Arlington when the new league launches in February 2020. That's just one month before the Rangers play their inaugural home game at the Globe Life Field climate-controlled ballpark across the street.

News about the iconic Globe Life Park's continuing legacy in Arlington is featured in the latest edition of the national and state award-winning Home Plate Update. This eighth edition also celebrates the latest construction milestones for the $1.2 billion Globe Life Field project, including the start of work on the 240,000-square-foot retractable roof, as well as news and events at the adjacent Texas Live! sports, dining and entertainment venue. You can catch entertaining new episodes of At the Park with Chuck, a series on MyArlingtonTV hosted by Rangers' PA announcer Chuck Morgan.

Home Plate Update is a joint project by the City of Arlington's Office of Communications and the Texas Rangers. This quarterly publication is dedicated to informing citizens about everything happening with the retractable-roof Globe Life Field project and the adjacent Texas Live! development. Every edition will be produced in a digital format, allowing for layers of additional content like videos, graphics, links to websites and project documents, and other supporting materials.

Earlier this year, Home Plate Update received the highest award from the national organization, City-County Communications: Marketing Association, or 3CMA in the E-Newsletter category. The publication also received top honors by the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers, which awarded the City of Arlington a TAMI Award in the Tech Services - Electronic Newsletter or Magazine category.
