Youth Sporting Equipment Donations Being Collected for Schools Affected by Hurricane Harvey

The Arlington Parks and Recreation Department is working with Athlete Training + Health located in South Arlington to collect sports equipment for school districts that were impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

Collected donations will be sent to the Sheldon Independent School District and C.E. King High School in Houston, Texas, and then distributed to teams and individuals in need throughout the fall season.

The following new or gently used items are being accepted:
  • Sports balls (soccer, baseball, basketball, tennis, etc.)
  • Equipment (all sports -bats, gloves, lacrosse sticks, helmets, tennis racquets, cones etc.)
  • Cleats (all sports)
  • Coolers
  • Sports bags
  • Sports bottles
  • Gift cards to Dicks Sporting Goods (Dicks is selling all sports equipment to the schools at cost)

Donations will be accepted now through October 31 at the Cliff Nelson Recreation Center and the Elzie Odom Athletic Center. Drop off hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Items can be dropped off at the front counter with a customer service representative.
