The City of Arlington recently held a dedication ceremony for the Unity Arch, the newest public art addition to Entertainment District Sculpture Trail.

The Unity Arch, designed by renowned artist Owen Morrel, was selected out of 21 proposals as the best representation of the community spirit. Facts about the sculpture include:

  • Morrel said he came up with the Unity Arch's design by wrapping chicken wire around a football.
  • The mesh that covers the sculpture is made of reflective metal plates.
  • The infinity-shaped sculpture stands roughly 14 feet tall and 25 feet wide and weighs about two tons.
  • Morrel said he prefers to let those who interact with the sculpture interpret what it means to them based on their own life experiences.

The Entertainment District Sculpture Trail, which spans the length of both the Richard Greene Linear Park and Robert Cluck Linear Park near Globe Life Park and AT&T Stadium, provides a unique combination of art, nature, and architecture that can only be found here in The American Dream City.
