Carli McDonald, junior for Bowie High School's track and field team, has been selected as the City of Arlington's Student-Athlete of the Month for April 2017.

Both a long jumper and a member of the girls' relay teams at Bowie, Carli advanced to the UIL regional competition, hosted by The University of Texas at Arlington April 28-29, 2017.

She continues to excel both on the track and inside the classroom and her leadership skills have impressed the Bowie coaching staff.

"I look for a lot in her, more than just competing on the track," said Doris Grooms, Bowie Girls Track & Field Head Coach. "I look for leadership off the track and we definitely get that from Carli."

Carli's favorite subject at Bowie High School is anatomy and she dreams of one day becoming a veterinarian.
