Residents are invited to attend a construction briefing meeting Monday evening to learn more about the future New York Avenue rebuild project in east Arlington.

The Public Works and Transportation Department anticipates starting construction on New York Avenue between Abram Street and Arkansas Lane in October. The nearly $12 million project, expected to be complete by July 2018, will include new water and sanitary sewer lines, paving, drainage improvements, as well as sidewalk and curb ramp improvements. Landscape and streetscape improvements planned for this section of New York Avenue include tree plantings, benches and trash receptacles, pedestrian lighting and stamped concrete and pavers at intersections.

The information meeting is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3 in the City Council Briefing Room on the 3rd floor of Arlington City Hall, 101 W. Abram Street. Public parking is available on the west and north side of City Hall.
