Friday, September 16
First up for the weekend is a Levitt audience favorite, Seryn, a folk/pop quartet with crazy good harmonies and the layered texture of guitars, ukulele, accordion, bass, viola, banjo and various percussion. Since they last appeared at the Levitt, Seryn has made the move from Denton to Nashville and has a new single, We Will All Be Changed. Their performance is at 8 p.m. and sponsored by the University of Texas at Arlington.
Saturday, September 17
The Levitt has two musical artists on Saturday. Daphne Willis brings her pop/rock sound to the stage at 7 p.m. Born in San Antonio to a classically trained vocalist and audio engineer, Daphne began singing at an early age and found her way to the guitar in high school. She didn't plan a career in music, but as a student at DePaul University in Chicago, she found herself performing at open mic nights, which led to regular gigs. She was discovered by a music producer when he heard one of Daphne's Indie EP tracks on an American Airlines flight.
Following Daphne at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Cas Haley, returns to the Levitt. His crystalline voice and funky, island-inflected beats earned the Texan a second-place finish on the second season of America's Got Talent. Cas was busy touring, recording and building a fan base when a ski accident left him unable to sing for eight months. His latest recording, More Music More Family, is a result of his recovery time, when he had time to reflect on how to move his music career forward while better representing his lifestyle. Both concerts are sponsored by Hooligan's and Kool Keg.
Sunday, September 18
The Levitt's concert weekend concludes with alt/country royalty when Bruce Robison and Kelly Willis perform at 8 p.m. sponsored by the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. After 20 years of marriage, the two already reign as one of Americana music's coolest couples, and their recordings have elevated them closer to the lofty territory once occupied by beloved country music royals, Johnny and June and George and Tammy. Kelly is a critically acclaimed roots music singer and recognized as a contemporary country and Americana pioneer. Bruce made his mark as both a writer of indelible smash hits for George Strait, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and the Dixie Chicks and as an artist in his own right with eight albums rich with his emotional dead aim as a songwriter and singer.
