Arlington Parks and Recreation ' s Ecofest

Mark your calendars: the eighth annual Ecofest that will take over the streets of Downtown Arlington on Saturday, September 17. The event will kick off at 10 a.m. and the fun will continue until 2 p.m. This free, family-oriented event will take place at Founders Plaza, 100 W. Abram Street. More than 40 vendors will showcase their green products and services. Classes and demonstrations on environmental awareness will take place throughout the day. Ecofest Arlington will also have many children ' s activities, including games, crafts, and educational presentations.

Frame4Frame Festival: Sept. 15-18

Frame4Frame will provide a first of its kind, musical and visual arts forum dedicated to raising cultural awareness and appreciation for the diverse creative population that exists throughout The American Dream City. The festival will host the film portion of the event at Studio Movie Grill in the Arlington Highlands and the music portion at South Street Patio in Downtown. The art portion, including the ' Ulterior Motifs ' exhibit, will be located at the Arlington Museum of Art. Levitt Pavilion Fall Concert Series

First up for the weekend is a Levitt audience favorite, Seryn, a folk/pop quartet with crazy good harmonies and the layered texture of guitars, ukulele, accordion, bass, viola, banjo and various percussion. Their performance is at 8 p.m. on Friday and sponsored by the University of Texas at Arlington. The Levitt has two musical artists on Saturday. Daphne Willis brings her pop/rock sound to the stage at 7 p.m. Following Daphne at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Cas Haley, returns to the Levitt. The Levitt ' s concert weekend concludes on Sunday with alt/country royalty when Bruce Robison and Kelly Willis perform at 8 p.m. sponsored by the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. ' Ulterior Motifs ' at Arlington Museum of Art

The Arlington Museum of Art, Arlington Cultural Tourism Council, and Wheeler Bro ' s Studios is proud to present the 14th instillation of the renowned group exhibition known as Ulterior Motifs. Conceived in 1999 by Jeffrey and Bryan Wheeler as a celebratory exhibition of Lubbock art and music, this semi-regular show has gradually evolved into a wider presentation of prominent contemporary artists who live in or maintain strong ties to Texas. Canelo vs. Smith at ATT Stadium

ATT Stadium in Arlington will give a big Texas welcome to former two-division world champion Canelo Alvarez and WBO Junior Middleweight World Champion Liam ' Beefy ' Smith as it hosts their world championship showdown on Saturday, September 17. As the third boxing match ever held at ATT Stadium, Canelo vs. Smith will guarantee a star-studded affair for all in attendance to witness Canelo take on one of the hardest punchers in the junior middleweight division. Tickets are available for purchase online atwww.ticketmaster.com. Additionally, walk up purchases are available at the ATT Stadium Box Office between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Star of Texas Challenge

Now ' s your chance to check out Arlington ' s newest public art, get your picture on the City ' s Facebook and Twitter pages and win a prize pack all at the same time. It ' s the Star of Texas Challenge and you can join the race. The City and the Arlington Museum of Art challenge residents to visit the 20 stars positioned throughout Arlington and check out each artist ' s interpretation of what makes Arlington the American Dream City!

How does the challenge work?

  • Post your photos to the Star of Texas Challenge Facebook page, tweet them at @CityofArlington or post on theCity ' s Instagram (cityofarlington) using the hashtags #AmericanDreamCity and #StarOfTexas.
  • You can upload all 20 photos as you go or post them all at once. It ' s up to you! We ' ll keep track of your name if you want to do them one at a time!!
  • In order to win the package of prizes you must take YOUR picture in front of all 20 stars.

Theatre Arlington presents ' Guys and Dolls '

Based on Damon Runyon ' s celebrated short stories about the New York underworld during Prohibition, Guys and Dolls is an odd-ball musical comedy that takes audiences from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana and even to the sewers of New York City! The show runs at Theatre Arlington in Downtown until October 2. Performances take place on Thursdays at 7:30 pm, Fridays Saturdays at 8:00 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm. Tickets are Adult $25 for adults, $23 for seniors (62+) and students with valid ID. Tickets for groups of more than 10 people are $20 each.
