WrestleMania 32 Projected to Bring $42 Million Economic Impact to Region

WWE's Wrestlemania 32 will bring more than the top wrestling stars to America's Dream City.

The week-long event will also to deliver a whopping economic impact - projected in excess of $42 million - for Arlington and the North Texas region.

On April 4, an estimated 100,000 wrestling fans will flock to AT&T Stadium in Arlington for the pop culture extravaganza.

"This has the potential of being one of the biggest WWE Wrestlemania events ever, like so many other major events we've had here," said Deputy City Manager Theron Bowman. "These events, like the Super Bowl, Final Four and the Cotton Bowl, bring in visitors not just from here locally and from other places around the state. A significant percentage of people attending are from out of the state."

With expenses such as hotel reservations, car rentals and shopping and dining, Arlington officials expect out-of-state visitors attending Wrestlemania 32 will generate an extra $434,000 in sales tax revenue that can be used to fund City services and help pay down bond debt on the City-owned AT&T Stadium.

"Ultimately a component of the services the citizens receive, police or fire or code or even library services, is contributed through tax revenue paid by citizens who come from out-of-state to visit our city for events such as WWE Wrestlemania 32," Bowman said.

Supporting the growth and success of the Entertainment District, which draws millions of visitors each year, is an example of the Arlington City Council's priority to "Invest in Our Economy."

These major events create a positive tourism impact for Arlington, said Ron Price, President & CEO of Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau.

"A large number of WWE fans make this event their annual family vacation, resulting in filling room nights at our hotels and increased local spending," Price said. "Tourism means business for the American Dream City, particularly an event like WWE, the Super Bowl of the wrestling world."

City expenses incurred from event operations are paid directly or reimbursed by event organizers.
