Keep Arlington Beautiful Adopt-A-Spot Program

Last June, Keep Arlington Beautiful and the Arlington Parks and Recreation Department announced a volunteer campaign to clean up litter from public right-of-ways, such as parks, streets, and trails.

The Adopt-A-Spot program is up and running and off to a strong start. Organizations, businesses, teams and families have come together adopting spots in North Arlington, aiding in the continuing beautification of the American Dream City.

The Bishop Family is one of Arlington's first Adopt-A-Spot participants.

"Our family has lived in North Arlington for over 15 years. We are excited to have the opportunity to do our part to make Arlington a wonderful place to live, work, and play for all," Mike Bishop said.

The Bishops have taken the lead on adopting the area along North Green Oaks Boulevard from Cooper Street to Collins Street, both east and west bound.

So far, other adoptees include the Texas Rangers Baseball Club, Westra Consultants, UT- Arlington Alpha Phi Omega- Theta Tau, and Kleinfelder Inc.

The Adopt-A-Spot program is perfect for organizations, businesses, churches, schools, neighbourhood associations, troops and families looking to get involved and give back to the city in which they live. Adopt-A-Spot adoptees will receive a certificate of appreciation, website recognition, and may purchase a sign at a minimal fee to be installed at the location recognizing the adoption*.

Keep Arlington Beautiful received $2,000 in grant funding from H-E-B and the Central Market's Green Bag Grants to aid in the litter cleanup effort.
