Accreditation Assessment Team Wants Your Feedback On Dispatch Services

A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), will arrive April 2, 2016, to examine all aspects of the City of Arlington Dispatch Services Division's policy and procedures, management, and operations.

Verification by the team that Arlington's Dispatch Services Division meets the Commission's state-of-the-art standards is part of a process to gain re-accreditation.

"Being accredited by CALEA is a highly prized recognition of 911/Dispatch excellence," said Communications Supervisor LaDeatra Calton, who is Arlington Dispatch Services' Accreditation Manager. "CALEA's standardization and documentation of policies and procedures ensures we are providing a consistency of services to our Arlington citizens and visitors."

As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments by calling (817) 459-5762 between 10:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. on Monday, April 4, 2016.

Telephone comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency's ability to comply with CALEA's standards. A copy of the standards is available online at http://www.calea.org/content/standards-titltes or by making an appointment to view the standards in Dispatch Services. The local contact is LaDeatra Calton at (817) 543-5901.

Persons wishing to submit written comments about the City of Arlington Dispatch Service's ability to comply with the standards for re-accreditation may send them to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, Inc. (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320, Gainesville, Virginia, 20155.

The assessment team is composed of public safety communications practitioners from similar but out-of-state agencies, Calton said. The assessors will review written materials, interview individuals, and visit offices and other places where compliance can be witnessed.
