Dalworthington Gardens Celebrates

The City of Dalworthington Gardens will celebrate its 80th anniversary this weekend with a outdoor dinner, bands, softball tournaments and other festivities.
Dalworthington Gardens, which is home to more than 2,000 residents today, was established in 1936.

Friday, June 10

The Oldtimers Gathering Dinner, 'A Celebration of Generations, ' is open to all ages. Because of limited space, reservations are required. The BBQ dinner is set from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Montessori Academy, 3428 W. Arkansas Lane in Dalworthington Gardens. To download a reservation form, visit www.cityofdwg.net.

Saturday, June 11

DWG Dash 5K and 1 Mile and Fun Run/Walk at DWG Park, 2600 Roosevelt Drive

7 a.m. Late Registration
7:45 a.m. Warm-up
8 a.m. Dash Mile
8:30 a.m. 5K and Timed Run/Walk
10 a.m. Awards
Registration fees $20 per person

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. free hot dogs, nachos and drinks

Four-Cities Softball Tournament at DWG Gardens Park Ball Field
11 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. Pantego vs. DWG
11:40 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. Mansfield vs Arlington
12:20 p.m. to 1 p.m. Play Off Game
Following the tournament, family or group teams will begin to play at the newly refurbished field.

2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Park fun, croquet, fishing
4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Activity Booths and hayride
7 p.m. Arlington Community Band
8 p.m. The Uptown Drifters Band
9 p.m. Movie in the Park: 'Finding Nemo ' and popcorn

Kona Ice will be available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sassy Hot Dogs Food Truck will be available from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
