Bigger Means Better

Come downtown and celebrate the Parks and Recreation Department" s 10th annual Light Up Arlington with great food, awesome music and fireworks!

This year" s event has been extended north and south of City Hall to make room for activities. With overflowing crowds and heavy pedestrian traffic, the expansion will help alleviate crowd flow and smooth transportation for both the participants and the vendors.

The children" s area will remain in the First Baptist Church Wade building parking lot but we will feature a second children" s area this year to increase the fun! The Arlington Historic Society will be opening up The Knapp Heritage Park which will feature a children" s area, tours of the cabins, and they will have a blacksmith on hand to demonstrate some of his best pieces. The north expansion provides more visibility for downtown restaurants, such as Grease Monkey and Mellow Mushroom. There will be a third stage located at Grease Monkey again this year.

"We are very excited to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Light Up Arlington and the new additions to the layout," Michael Debrecht, Park Operations Manager said. "We anticipate another fun-filled weekend and look forward to making this year" s celebration the best one yet."

These changes are made to help participants have an enjoyable time and alleviate crowd traffic. For the most up-to-date schedule and map, go to lightuparlington.com. We highly recommend visitors view the changes before coming to the event as well as look at alternative parking areas.

While at the event, visitors can pull up a map to locate which booths they want to visit and see a schedule for the evening.

Food trucks will be available on site from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The fireworks start at 9:45 p.m. and will be set to music from 95.9 The Ranch. Get your groove on with live music all night at three stages set up and entertainment featuring top acts in Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Visitors who want a spot at the Levitt Pavilion should arrive early and bring blankets or lawn chairs. The night will be packed with fun so grab the whole family or a group of friends and join us as we Light Up Arlington!
