10th Annual Light Up Arlington

Come downtown and celebrate the Parks and Recreation Department "s 10th annual Light Up Arlington with great food, awesome music and fireworks this Sunday, July 3! This year "s event has been extended north and south of City Hall to make room for activities. With overflowing crowds and heavy pedestrian traffic, the expansion will help alleviate crowd flow and smooth transportation for both the participants and the vendors. Food trucks will be available on site from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The fireworks start at 9:45 p.m. and will be set to music from 95.9 The Ranch. Get your groove on with live music all night at three stages set up and entertainment featuring top acts in Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Arlington 4th of July Parade

On Monday morning (July 4), thousands of spectators dressed in red, white and blue will line the streets of downtown for the iconic Fourth of July Parade, the oldest, longest running event in Arlington. The theme for this year "s parade is"America the Beautiful." The parade, which begins at 9 a.m. and ends at approximately 11 a.m., is dedicated to"those who keep Arlington beautiful," said Donna Darovich, senior parade announcer and public relations coordinator. This year "s event will include about 130 entries, including antique vehicles, several groups on horseback, marching bands, cheerleaders, professionally built parade floats, motorcycles and more.

July 4th Fest at Six Flags Over Texas

Arlington Music Hall Presents Dailey Vincent

Dubbed by CMT as the"Rockstars of Bluegrass," the Dailey Vincent duo arrives at Arlington Music Hall in Downtown this Friday, July 1, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. Dailey Vincent has been hailed throughout the music industry as one of the most exciting, reputable and elite Bluegrass bands in America, having won numerous awards for their uniquely contagious and riveting music. Levitt Pavilion Summer Concert Series

The Levitt "s Summer Concert Season runs through July 17. Concerts are on Thursday through Sunday nights at 8 p.m. until July 7, when concerts begin later at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday morning Children "s Concerts are at 9:30 a.m. June 8-29, and the Levitt "s new Family Movie Nights are at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings June 8 through July 6. Levitt audiences are seated on an open lawn on blankets or lawn chairs. Picnics and coolers are welcome, but no glass containers, please. Free parking is available in lots all around the pavilion. Vivian Maier: Lost and Found Exhibit at Arlington Museum of Art

Virtually unknown photographer Vivian Maier took close to 200,000 photographs while she worked for over 40 years as a nanny primarily on Chicago "s North Shore. Born in New York City, Maier "s hauntingly beautiful images of street life in the City, Chicago, and Los Angeles weren "t discovered until the contents of an abandoned storage unit packed with hundreds of thousands of negatives, hundreds of rolls of film, some printed work and audio recordings were auctioned off. It was then that her talent came to light and told the story of a true creative genius whose life remains shrouded in mystery to this day. Join us for a celebration of life through the lens of Vivian Maier. The exhibit is open at Arlington Museum of Art until Sunday, August 21, 2016.

Native All-Star Football Classic at Maverick Stadium

More than 30 high school student-athletes from Native American tribes across the U.S. and Canada will gather at The University of Texas at Arlington for the 14th annual Native All-Star Football Classic. The event, the only one of its kind in the U.S., begins at 7 p.m., Saturday, July 2 at UTA "s Maverick Stadium, 1307 W. Mitchell St. Ticket prices are $10 for adults; FREE for children under the age of five. Visit www.uta.edu/news/releases/2016/06/native-revision-classic.php for more information. Since 2013, UTA has hosted the annual event, which is produced by Native ReVision. The Dallas-based nonprofit uses competitive sports to support and challenge Native American student-athletes and encourage them on their paths to success.

$1 Kid-Friendly Movies at Studio Movie Grill

Need an air-conditioned escape for your kids this summer? Studio Movie Grill in the Arlington Highlands is hosting its Children "s Summer Series Monday through Friday for $1. The Children "s Summer Series will run every week through Sept. 2. The movies change on a weekly basis but include several classic movies such as Shrek and Horton Hears a Who. All movies begin at 11 am. Whether the kids will be enjoying the movie for the first time or for the 10th, it "s a great way for the family to cool off on a hot summer day here in the American Dream City.
