Want to support a community project and get your grocery shopping done at the same time? Whole Foods Market Community Giving Day will let you do just that at the end of August!

On Wednesday, August 31, Whole Foods Market on E. Lamar Blvd. will donate five percent of its sales to the Arlington Public Library Foundation in support of the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library, which is currently under construction.

'Partnering with Whole Foods for Community Giving Day is a great way to let people know about the library and library services,' Development Coordinator Andi Davis said. 'The Library Foundation is fortunate enough to have participated in Community Giving Day in the past, and we're thrilled that Whole Foods wanted to support us again as we build the new Downtown Library.'

Library Foundation members will be at the store from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. to answer questions about the project, and the mobile TechLiNK will be on-site from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Davis said having the TechLiNK on site is a great way to showcase the mobile technology services that the library provides to Arlington residents around the city. With 10 computers and wireless internet on board, the TechLiNK provides people a place to work online, sign up for library cards, or attend technology classes.

When complete, the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library will feature 80,000 square feet of space across three floors, with zoned areas for children, teens, and adults. Among the many features of the state-of-the-art building are new technologies including 3D printing and technology classroom; a quiet reading room; multiple meeting and study rooms; a genealogy and local history space featuring research stations and a meeting room; and a rooftop garden.

Whole Foods Market is located at 801 E. Lamar Blvd, and is open from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
