Arlington Parks and Recreation Department held its fall 2016 Build A Dream Scholarship registration August 25, 2016. Scholarship funds came through a Community Development Block Grant awarded in July 2016 as well as monetary donations received from the community.

The Build A Dream program provides scholarships for Arlington youth, giving them the opportunity to participate in Parks and Recreation activities. Participants pay a $5 application fee to be awarded up to $150 towards registration per family. This application fee is put back into the scholarship fund. Participants are able to register kids for youth sports league, swim lessons, as well as other recreation programs and classes.

Due to limited funding, scholarships are awarded on a first come, first serve basis.

The fall 2016 registration awarded approximately $29,000 worth of scholarship to about 380 kids.
