4th Annual Arlington Bass Classic

The City of Arlington Parks and Recreation Department will host the 4th annual Arlington Bass Classic at Lake Arlington on April 9, 2016. The tournament start time is 7 a.m. with angler check-in beginning at 5:30 a.m. at the Lake Office in Richard Simpson Park. The Bass Classic will end at 3 p.m. Registration is $60 per team (1 or 2 people). Entry fee is $50 if one team member is age 17 or under. One boat per team. Top five places paid for biggest stringer. Optional Big Bass side pot entry is $5 (winner takes all).

Arlington Tennis Center Free Block Party and Carnival

Join Arlington Parks and Recreation this Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Arlington Tennis Center Block Party and Carnival. The event, set for 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., is free to the public and designed for all ages. Activities include tennis drills and games for adults and children, face painting, snow cones, door prizes and tennis discounts.The Arlington Tennis Center is located at 500 W. Mayfield Road. Arlington Music Hall Presents The Platters

The list of hits turned out by the original Platters includes 10 songs that qualified for Billboard's list of the 500 greatest Rock & Roll hits of all time, including three in the Top 50. It has been nearly 10 years since the last original member left The Platters and still the group remains one of the most popular in Rock & Roll history, continuing their popularity of becoming one of the most sought after performing groups in the country. Over the years the greatest of care has been taken to assure that each new member of The Platters carries on the tradition and maintains the skills that were associated with the original groups. The Platters take the stage at Arlington Music Hall in Downtown this Friday, April 8, 2016 at 7:30 p.m.

Arlington Music Hall Presents Eddie Money

After signing a recording contract with Columbia Records, Eddie Money burst onto the scene with his eponymous debut album in 1977. Fans immediately fell in love with Money's sound, and the album, which went double platinum, featured hits like "Baby Hold On"and "Two Tickets to Paradise."Money followed the success of his debut album with a stream of Top 40 hits, as well as some of the era's most creative videos for songs like "Think I'm in Love"and "Shakin."Now, his blue collar rock n' roll sound arrives at Arlington Music Hall this Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 7:30 p.m.

AISD Youth Art Month at Arlington Museum of Art

The subject of a recent episode of Culture Buzz, Arlington ISD Youth Art Month is now on display at the Arlington Museum of Art in Downtown! Each spring, the Arlington Museum of Art works collaboratively with the Arlington Independent School District to give students the opportunity to display their pieces done in a wide variety of mediums to the general public. An opening reception is held during each two-week show to provide an opportunity for family and friends to attend and celebrate their student's artistic achievements.

Astronaut at UTA Planetarium

See what it takes to become an Astronaut and the effect space has on the human body this Sunday, April 10 at UTA Planetarium! Narrated by Ewan McGregor, experience a rocket launch from inside the body of an astronaut, explore the amazing worlds of inner and outer space, and discover the perils that lurk in space. This family-friendly show starts at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. For more information on other shows happening at the UTA Planetarium and ticket prices, please visit their website.
