City Council Approves More Than $1.1 Million to Rebuild Arlington Streets

Three major Residential Street Rebuild Projects will move ahead after the Arlington City Council approved more than $1.1M during its Aug. 25 meeting to provide engineering design related to rebuilding several streets in Arlington.

According to the Public Works & Transportation Department, construction funding for the rebuild projects is scheduled to be approved with the 2016 Capital Budget. All three residential rebuild projects should bid in Spring 2016.

This connects with the city council's "Enhance Regional Mobility" priority.

The city council's approval allows the City of Arlington to finalize engineering design contracts with the following companies:

  • Elder Engineering of Mansfield: $407,250 (2014 Residential Rebuild - Phase II)
  • Stream Water Group of Fort Worth: $354,510 (2015 Residential Rebuild - Phase I)
  • Wier & Associates of Arlington: $360,000 (2015 Residential Rebuild - Phase II)

2014 Residential Rebuild, Phase II

According to Public Works & Transportation Department, the 2008 Bond Election includes annual funding for design and reconstruction of existing residential streets. The 2014 Residential Rebuild Program will be implemented in phases and will complete the residential rebuilds funded from the 2008 Bond Election.

The following streets have been identified for the 2014 Residential Rebuild, Phase II:

Concrete Street Rebuild

  • Key Drive - East Mayfield Road to Amhurst Drive
  • Claudia Street - Ruth Street to Highland Drive
  • Grace Street - Browning Drive to New York Avenue
  • Grace Circle - Grace Street to End

Concrete Street Rebuild with Sanitary Sewer Line Renewals

  • Ashbury Drive - California Lane to Medlin Drive
  • Ashbury Court - Ashbury Drive to End
  • Stratford Court - Ashbury Drove to End
  • Amhurst Drive - Daniel Drive to Hanover Drive
  • Hanover Drive - Natches Drive to Amhurst Drive
  • Mesa Drive - Daniel Drive to Selfridge Drive
  • Roanoke Street - Amhurst Drive to Allen Avenue
  • Selfridge Drive - Winderemere Drive to Natches Drive
  • Vanderbilt Drive - Hanover Drive to Allen Avenue
  • Windermere Drive - Amhurst Drive to Hanover Drive
  • Samuels Lane - Ridgeway Street to Ida Street

Sanitary Sewer Line Renewals in Easements

  • Between 1610 Amhurst Drive and 3311 Hanover Drive
  • Between 1519 Hanover Drive and 1601 Hanover Drive
  • Between 3300 Winderemere Drive and 3210 Winderemere Drive

  • Biggs Terrace - Connally Terrace to West Wynn Terrace
  • Miriam Lane - Sherry Street to Hillcrest Drive

Ponding Rehabilitation

  • 912 to 916 Bowie Street

2015 Residential Rebuild, Phase II

The 2014 Bond Election includes annual funding for design and reconstruction of existing residential streets.

The following streets have been identified for the 2015 Residential Rebuild, Phase II project:
