The City of Arlington is in the design phase of creating a second dog park within city limits, as part of the Rush Creek Mitigation Plan. The new park will be located on Pioneer Parkway, bordered by Valleywood Drive and Woodland Park Blvd.

Park Project Manager and Landscape Architect Eric Seebock says the popularity of Tails N' Trails, the city's first and only dog park, along with the demand for more dog parks in Arlington, is what spurred the creation of the park.

"For our park visitation estimates, we show an average of 100 people on weekdays and 200 on weekends, for a total of 46,800 annual attendance," Seebock said. "This has lead to the request from residents from other parts of the City to request more dog parks."

$500,000 for the creation and construction of the park was approved by Arlington voters in the 2014 Bond Election. The bidding and construction phase of the project will be March 2016-October 2016.

The park will include a fenced area for large breed dogs, a fenced area for small breed dogs, a dog wash area, and shade structures for owners. It will be 7.5 acres in size.

"It gives the residents in the west and north part of the City a closer dog park alternative and encourage owners to get out and exercise as well," Seebock said.
