Texas Christkindl Market - Opens Nov. 27

The Texas Christkindl Market is one of the largest open-air markets in the Southwest. Inspired by Arlington's relationship with its German sister city, Bad Königshofen, the market is in its fifth year at Globe Life Park and will be open November 27 through December 23. It features vendors, selling handmade goods, decor and ornaments, along with German food and drinks. Live music, a Kinder Market, and pictures with Santa are also part of the fun. Admission and parking are free, but various activities, including many in the Kinder Market, are for an additional charge. For more information, please visit Texas Christkindl Market's website or check out the City's article to see what's in store for residents at this year's market.

Holiday in the Park at Six Flags Over Texas

Six Flags Over Texas, the Thrill Capital of Texas, transforms into the "Cheer" capital this holiday season. For 30 years, Holiday in the Park has spread holiday joy to families. This year the tradition continues as this magical event shines even brighter. On select dates from November 21 through January 3, 2016, SantaLand, the Holiday Tree of Trees Spectacular, The Frosty Snowhill, and more await guests during this memorable celebration. The seasonal fun doesn't stop there as five holiday shows, ranging from a Texas twist to a Victorian revue, will have guests singing and dancing along. After visitors catch a show, they can warm up at one of the six holiday campfires around the park, with a cup of hot cocoa, or with their own s'mores. For more information, including operating hours, visitwww.sixflags.com/overtexas.

Carolina Panthers at Dallas Cowboys

Thanksgiving not only means great food, but also the tradition of Cowboys football. This year's game finds the Dallas Cowboys (3-7) squaring off against Cam Newton and the undefeated Carolina Panthers (10-0) of the NFC South. Despite a slow start to the season, the Cowboys are just 1.5 games out of 1st place in the NFC East, with star quarterback Tony Romo returning to action in last week's 24-14 victory over the Miami Dolphins. The game starts at 3:30 p.m. at AT&T Stadium and if you can't make it to the game, the match-up will be nationally televised on CBS. Resale tickets are available online. There are also limited tickets available by the venue.

Arlington Turkey Trot

The sixth annual USMD Arlington Turkey Trot benefits The Shoe Bank, a Metroplex-based non profit organization. It will be hosted by the Arlington Convention Center, and participants will make their way through the Entertainment District, beginning and ending the race at Globe Life Park. 8 a.m. marks the start of the "Puffin for Stuffin" one mile run, and the 5K Run/Walk will begin at 8:30. The cost is $21 for the one mile run and the 5K Untimed, $25 for the 5K Timed, and an additional $10 for strollers.

Modern Masters from the Guild Hall Collection

This exhibition will feature work by 60 artists including Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, Jackson Pollock, Roy Lichtenstein, Willem de Kooning, and Robert Motherwell. Modern art has brought a fresh and unconventional approach to the creative community, expressing the loves, hates, ideas, beliefs, interests, passions, strengths, and weaknesses of a generation emerging in the mid-Twentieth Century. This exhibit will explore traditional mediums of art, outside the box, and how the art world embraced the work that represents a movement that changed the face of fine art in America. The exhibit will be open to the public until Sunday, February 21, 2016. Arlington Museum of Art is located at 201 West Main Street Arlington, TX 76010. For more information, please call 817-275-4600.

Adventure to Santa at The Parks at Arlington

Adventure to Santa, a storytelling experience centered around Shrek characters and designed by Dreamworks Animation, returns to The American Dream City this holiday season at The Parks at Arlington! Just past the red cottage doors, Shrek and Donkey greet children and begin the interactive experience. Elves guide families through the next four rooms, where they design their own sleigh, go on a ride complete with pulsing seats and fans, compete in a virtual snowball fight, and meet Santa Claus. This event will be open to the public until Christmas Eve. This is a popular attraction at the mall, so be sure to book your reservation in advance by clicking here!

Ringside: Memories of World Class Championship Wrestling Exhibit

The wrestlers. Their extravagant costumes. Overly exuberant fans yelling for their favorites. The referee who wasn't entirely necessary. The old-time arenas that smelled of sweat. Ringside: Memories of World Class Championship Wrestling showcases more than 30 photos taken by Cirrus Bonneau, who spent Monday nights in 1982 and 1983 at the Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth documenting the interplay between the costumed stars and their captivated audiences. The exhibit is free to the public and runs through Jan. 16 at the UT Arlington Central Library, 702 Planetarium Place. Call UTA Libraries Special Collections at 817-272-3393 for more information.
