Duty, sacrifice and service are words that come to mind when we stop to reflect on why America celebrates Veterans Day.

With pride- filled fanfare and some somber reflections of sacrifices made in service to others, Arlington celebrated Veterans Day with several special events throughout the city, including a Veterans Day Commemoration Ceremony at Veterans Park on November 11, 2015.

Wednesday's tradition-rich event, which included Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams, U.S. Representative Joe Barton and other local dignitaries, honored U.S. veterans of all wars.

A special tribute to our aging veterans - those who served in the Vietnam War - saw former soldiers receive a special medal and a replica of the Texas Flag as a sign of gratitude.

Many of the Vietnam War veterans proudly showed off their medals to their fellow comrades, family members and friends.
