Fantasy in Sand featuring The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is officially open to the public in The American Dream City starting today, May 22, 2015!

Internationally renowned sand sculptors were able to carve 3 million pounds of sand into several scenes from L. Frank Baum"s famous book, including Dorothy, Toto, The Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow, The Wizard of Oz, the Flying Monkeys and the Emerald City of Oz.

The experience concludes with a Texas-sized sandbox, which is 2,000 square feet, where kids can create their own sand sculptures while parents watch from an observation deck. This is the largest indoor sandbox in Texas.

Warren Lyng, the event designer and chief creative officer of 12 Degree Entertainment, says Arlington understood the vision of what Fantasy in Sand was trying to do.

"Arlington really is The American Dream City. The Wizard of Oz is such an integral part of American culture and to get the chance to bring it to life in this unique light just made sense to us," said Lyng.

The experience is located at Parking Lot F by Globe Life Park in Arlington and will run through Sunday, August 23.

More information about the event, including ways to purchase tickets and hours of operation, is available at www.FantasyInSand.com.

General admission tickets are $19.99 with discounts available for kids (ages 11 and under), active military and groups.
