Proactive Opportunities for Water and Energy Reduction

Arlington residents now have a new opportunity to sign up for a 100% green energy plan and conserve water while helping to generate additional revenue for city services.

The City and Green Mountain Energy Company have launched POWER - Proactive Opportunities for Water and Energy Reduction. This new program offers residents competitive rates on 100% clean, renewable electricity made from wind energy along with tools that help them save water beginning May 14. POWER replaces the current PowerUP program and offers customers new ways to "go green" and support the environment. Each new customer who enrolls in the program using a promotional code will help benefit city services. To learn more and sign up for new service, click here.

"A lot of people don't make the connection between water and electricity, but we consume these resources every day, and both can contribute greatly to your environmental footprint," said Mark McShane, vice president of Green Mountain Energy. "With Green Mountain, you can choose to power your home with 100% renewable energy and conserve your water usage to make a positive impact on the planet. We're thrilled to bring new sustainable solutions to Arlington residents to help reduce their environmental impact more holistically."

As part of the agreement, Green Mountain Energy is the new title sponsor for the summer and fall free concert series at the Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts. The 50 shows are expected to attract more than 100,000 people this year.

"We are excited about working with Green Mountain Energy," said Nora Coronado, project coordinator with the City of Arlington. "The company and City share a commitment to the environment. We offer our residents single stream recycling and encourage water conservation within our community, and the new POWER program complements our efforts."
