National Night Out in The American Dream City is getting an early start this weekend with a community celebration for a good cause. At the Project365 Kickoff event tomorrow, the Arlington Police Department plans to raise awareness about domestic violence and collect items for families affected by this crime. We are partnering with Safe Haven to raise awareness and help domestic violence victims. There will also be plenty of food, games, music and lots of fun.

Residents are invited to join us for the National Night Out Project365 Kickoff party Saturday, June 6, 2015, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Vandergriff Park Pavilion (542 Central Park Drive).

Project365 Kickoff highlights the National Night Out event that is hosted annually by local communities each Fall. National Night Out promotes crime prevention, police-community partnership and neighborhood camaraderie. It encourages people to turn on their porch lights, step outside, and get to know their neighbors at small block parties. Law enforcement agencies stop by the parties to offer public safety tips and ways to stay connected to their local police departments.

In 2014, Arlington was awarded fourth place by the National Association of Town Watch for cities with a population of greater than 300,000. This National Post-Project award recognized the hundreds of parties hosted in Arlington and the cooperation between residents and the Arlington Police Department.
