The City of Arlington was honored to receive 10 awards at the annual Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) conference in Houston last week.

The awards recognize outstanding communication by Texas communities in a variety of categories including website, social media, video production and publications. Judging is conducted by non-TAMIO members with expertise in communications and municipal government.

Arlington received more first place awards and more overall awards than any other city in Texas.

"We were humbled by this recognition by our peers," said Arlington Marketing Communications Manager Jay Warren. "There was stiff competition from all across the state and some stellar work by large and small communities alike. We were especially pleased that our videos, marketing campaigns and publications were able to stand out among that competition."

The City's new brand campaign, Arlington: The American Dream City, which was launched last June, was honored with multiple awards including best campaign and best video. The City's new website and the Parks and Recreation Department's Naturally Fun Magazine were also recognized.

"The brand campaign has been a community wide project," Warren said. "It involved a partnership with Convention and Visitor's Bureau and multiple major brands in Arlington including GM, the Dallas Cowboys, Six Flags, UTA, AISD, the Chamber of Commerce and the Texas Rangers. All of the awards we received for the brand are truly team awards, recognizing the community-wide effort it took to develop a brand that speaks to all of Arlington."
