Bitingly relevant and sprinkled with sass, Bring It On: The Musical, inspired by the Bring It On film, takes the audience on a high-flying journey filled with the complexities of friendship, jealousy, betrayal and forgiveness. Bring It On: The Musical tells the story of the challenges and unexpected bonds formed through the thrill of extreme competition.

Presented by SummerStars Performing Arts Camp at CATS (Creative Arts Theatre & School), the production features an all-youth cast age 13-18 from all over the Metroplex. The campers have been participating in an intensive musical theatre camp that has been a mainstay of CATS' programming for 36 years. These performances are the culmination of their camp experience.

Featuring the high-octane tricks, backstabbing drama and heart-pumping music of the world of competitive cheerleading, Bring It On: The Musical is the modern tale of what happens when Campbell, cheer captain at affluent Truman High School is redistricted to Jackson High, the school from the wrong side of the tracks, where she faces not just lesser social status, but the tragedy of no cheer squad! Campbell must convince Danielle, the leader of Jackson's hip-hop dance troupe, to start a cheerleading squad. With the help of her new friends, Campbell learns that there are things that may be more important than cheerleading.

With a colorful crew of characters, an exciting fresh musical sound, dynamic choreography, and aerial stunts, this musical is sure to be emotionally gratifying in its story of redemption and breathtaking with amazingly vibrant athleticism.

Uniting some of the freshest and funniest creative minds on Broadway, Bring It On: The Musical features an original story by Tony Award winner Jeff Whitty (Avenue Q), music and lyrics by Tony Award-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights), music by Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning composer Tom Kitt (Next to Normal), lyrics by Broadway lyricist Amanda Green (High Fidelity) and music supervision by Tony and Grammy Award winner Alex Lacamoire (In The Heights). This production is directed by Kim Worthen and Kristi Abene, choreographed by Heather Simmons, with musical direction by Jason Walker. The production team is celebrating their sixth year leading the SummerStars camp with this project.
