Summer is almost over and the new school year is set to begin in the Arlington area next month. The City of Arlington wants drivers to be aware of buses, kids walking and extra traffic around school zones.

On Tuesday, August 4, Summit International Preparatory buses and other vehicles will start rolling and Arlington police officers will be out to enforce the laws designed to keep school children safe as they travel to and from school.

"August will be a busy month and we would ask drivers to be patient for a couple of weeks after school starts for things to calm down," said Assistant Director of Public Works and Transportation Mindy Carmichael.

Parents should also help their children learn to only cross streets at designated cross walks for their own safety.
