 Festival Set for Feb. 28

Due to weather conditions, the Black History Festival scheduled for Saturday, February 28, at the Southeast Branch Library has been canceled, according to Arlington Public Library.

Members of the Arlington community will celebrate African-American history and culture on Saturday, February 28 with an afternoon filled with exhibits, musical and dance performances, lectures, film, storytelling, crafts and more at the Southeast Branch Library, 900 SE Green Oaks Blvd.

Arlington Public Library's annual Black History Month Festival features excerpts from the documentary film, Freedom Summer from the series, Created Equal: America's Civil Rights Struggle. The film and community discussion following are sponsored by Tarrant County College Southeast Campus.

Schedule of events:

12 p.m. - Freedom Summer. Join Ruthann Geer from Tarrant County College to watch excerpts from the film, Freedom Summer, and then take part in our community discussion.

1:30 p.m. - Tarrant County College SE Jazz Combo

2 - 3:30 p.m.

3:30 p.m. - Bandan Koro African Drum and Dance Ensemble. Join us as drummers share a basic introduction to West African Drumming, Music and Culture.

Children can visit the children's area throughout the afternoon for special activities. Bring the whole family!
