2015 Arlington MLK Celebration: Advancing the Dream

The Arlington, TX community will gather to honor the legacy of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at several events this weekend, including the Advancing the Dream Awards Banquet Friday, Jan. 16, and An Evening of Spoken Word Poetry Slam Saturday, Jan. 17. Both events will be held at the Bluebonnet Ballroom at UT Arlington. State Senator Royce West will be the keynote speaker at the banquet. KTVT CBS 11 Elizabeth Dinh will be the celebrity emcee. The five-day celebration concludes with a Day of Service starting at 9 a.m. on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and a Youth Musical Extravaganza at 6:30 p.m. at MetroCenter. Arlington Music Hall Presents: The Bellamy Brothers

Looking to go to a live country music concert this weekend? Head over to Arlington Music Hall to see The Bellamy Brothers! Howard and David Bellamy have enjoyed enormous success throughout their career with numerous No. 1 hits on both the Pop and Country charts. Ticket prices range from $25 to $45 and can be purchased online here. You can also call the box office at 817-226-4400. The 1,071 seat auditorium includes state-of-the-art sound and lighting, an expanded stage and a classic new décor. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. and doors open at 6.

Arlington Museum of Art Presents: Bruce Wood, A Retrospective

The Arlington Museum of Art now features a special exhibit featuring Fort Worth's own Bruce Wood. Wood has been a driving force in the North Texas cultural community for decades. His latest venture, Bruce Wood Dance Project, sought to bring innovative, unconventional productions to North Texas audiences. This exhibit will explore his contributions to the world of dance, the cultural arts and the communities he grew up in. The Bruce Wood exhibit will be open to the public until Sunday, February 15. Six Flags Over Texas Job Fair

Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington is hosting another job fair this weekend from January 17-19. The park is looking to hire several employees for its 2015 season, which kicks off February 28. Applicants should first go to sixflagsjobs.com to complete an online application. Interviews are scheduled by appointment only after the online application has been reviewed. 2015 marks the 55th year for Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, TX.
