The UT Arlington Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department draws students from across the state and country, eager to live their dream of designing a race car.

The University's Formula SAE racing program started back in 1982. Each year, the students build and compete against peers in a car of their design. The team competes in nine three-day competitions around the world every year.

UT Arlington also hosts a friendly competition each summer called Texas Autocross Weekend. It has drawn student teams from as far away as Canada and Florida.

UT Arlington's Formula SAE race car program has been ranked as high as fifth of 513 teams in the Formula Student Combustion World Rankings. The program is one of the highest rated Formula SAE teams in the U.S.

Check out how the students and their advisor are living their American Dream and pursuing a career in engineering.
