Arlington Public Works & Transportation has finished work on two residential street projects in The American Dream City, enhancing mobility for drivers in the City.

Lovers Lane was fully reconstructed with concrete pavement from Collins Street to Wynn Terrace.

Lackland Drive was also fully reconstructed with concrete pavement from Daniel Drive to Park Row.

Both residential streets included storm drain improvements, water renewals, sanitary sewer renewals and sidewalks.

The design of the project started back in 2011 and bids for construction were opened in August of 2013.

Construction on both streets began in October of 2013 and were finished in June of last year.

This project is one of 16 major public works and water utility upgrade projects totaling as much as $80 million scheduled to roll out over a two-year period.

The street improvements were made possible with funds from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).

The 40th Anniversary of the CDBG program started in August of 2014 and the funds have been used over the years to make numerous improvements to low and moderate-income neighborhoods in Arlington.
