 Spring 2015

Did you miss out on volunteering for our event for “Cache In and Trash Out"?! Here are two more opportunities to join the City of Arlington Parks and Recreation Department (APRD and Keep Arlington Beautiful (KAB) for another two Cache In and Trash out events!

Our Naturally Fun Mobile Litter Unit Trailer can accommodate groups of all sizes and ages. We provide gloves, grippers, bags, and other items necessary for the clean-up. Events can range from 50 -150 volunteers per event including: families, residents, school/church groups, scouts, and individuals. Youth under the age of 15 is required to have a legal guardian present.

Volunteers have a chance to participate in their community, give back to their community and make new friendships while hard at work. Volunteers will also have opportunities to win prizes, pathtags and also are given light snacks to keep them energized.

What is a Geocaching CITO Event?

Geocachers around the world celebrate International Cache in Trash Out weekend annually by hosting and participating in Cache in Trash out Events in their local area. Events might be focused on litter clean-up, removal of invasive species, revegetation efforts or building trails. Our major focus for these three CITO's is litter abatement.

Traditional geocahers use GPS coordinates to locate the event area and to find other hidden caches along the clean-up area.

JANUARY'S CITO EVENT RECAP:

The January CITO event was a major success with over 50 volunteers & geocachers in attendance, free path tags, prize give a ways such as: free rounds of golf, backpacks, swim passes, and a variety of tasty snacks. The group removed over 80, 30- gallon, bags of litter along the one- mile stretch of Ave. F in Arlington and had fun doing it. Among the trash collection, one of the volunteers found $10 cash. It pays to give back! It is such a rewarding feeling to see all the trash bags lined up along the curbside once finished!
