A new suite hotel near Interstate-20 will move forward with construction in The American Dream City, offering visitors another place to stay for leisure or business travel.

Arlington City Council has approved a development plan for a Comfort Suites hotel off of I-20 at 351 Westway Place, east of Centreway Place.

The hotel will be located just south of Furr's Cafeteria and west of the new Mercedes dealership currently under construction. Comfort Suites will also be in close proximity to the Arlington Highlands shopping center.

The development plan for the hotel has proposed 105 rooms, a small restaurant with a seating capacity of 54 people with both indoor and outdoor seating.

There are also plans for a recreational area, including a 2,244 square-foot swimming pool, play area and Jacuzzi.

The Comfort Suites is expected to include more than 5,000 square feet of meeting space and an outdoor seating area covered by a pergola.

Mayor and City Council approved a second reading of the development plan at Tuesday's evening session on August 25, 2015, after it was approved at a first reading vote on Tuesday, August 4.

This development plan is part of Arlington City Council's priority to "Invest in Our Economy."
