This work is the first step in the installation of a raised curb median that will eventually stretch from Arkansas Lane to Mitchell Street.

The work is scheduled for overnight closures from 7:00 pm to 6:00 am on Tuesday, April 21st and Wednesday, April 22nd.

The contractor will close a single lane in each direction between 7:00 and 9:00 pm nightly and then close a second lane from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am. One lane of travel in each direction and access to local businesses and side streets will be maintained.

Drivers should expect delays and seek alternate routes, particularly after 9:00 pm on these two nights.

The $5.3 million FM157-Cooper Street improvements project from Interstate 20 to Mitchell Street is a collaborative effort between the City of Arlington, Texas Department of Transportation, and the North Central Texas Council of Governments.

This 3.8-mile project will improve mobility and safety by installing raised curb medians from Arkansas Lane to Mitchell Street, upgrading traffic signals at California Lane and Mitchell Street, building and connecting sidewalks, curb ramps and driveways, and milling and repairing the existing roadway surface with an asphalt pavement overlay over the entire project length.

This construction started in the Spring of 2015 and overall completion is scheduled for Summer 2016.
