The UT Arlington Movin' Mavs season kicks off this week with a home tournament, as the team pursues its dream of another national championship.

The team, which is nationally recognized and has won seven national championships over 26 years, gives students who are in wheelchairs the opportunity to compete in an intercollegiate sport. In 1989, UT Arlington's first season in the Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball division, the team of six made it to the Final Four. Since then, the program has grown substantially and along the way added many titles and awards to its resume.

According to the university's website, Movin' Mavs players "have earned First Team All American, 28 earned Second Team All-American honors, and nine have been named MVP. The team's other recent honors include U.S. Paralympic Grant, Neilson Foundation Grant, United States Tennis Association Grant(s), two-time NASPA Excellence Award Gold Honoree, and NASPA Excellence Award Silver Honoree."
