Are you ready for a new 24-hour supermarket in Arlington?

WinCo Foods, the Boise, Idaho-based discount grocer known for bringing organic, specialty and regular products all together under one roof, will be opening in south Arlington in late 2015 or early 2016.

The 84,000 square foot store, which will be located at 4620 S. Cooper Street next door to Hobby Lobby, is expected to bring more choices for shoppers and about 200 full- and part-time jobs to the Arlington community.

WinCo plans to tear tear down the vacant 66,000 square foot Sports Authority as soon as possible to build the new grocery store.

Shoppers will notice low prices throughout the store, which will include rows of bulk items - more than 750 varieties - from grains and flours to nuts and herbs and three types of honey. The store also will feature an on-site bakery, seafood counter and a wide selection of coffee beans.

Some residents had concerns about truck traffic and the delivery of equipment goods during early morning hours. Arlington City Council addressed those concerns by asking WinCo Foods not to schedule deliveries during the early morning hours. The City of Arlington is also requiring the company to plant landscaping to help beautify the parking lot area.

WinCo Foods is an employee owned company founded in 1967, in Boise, Idaho. It currently has more than 15,000 employees and operates 98 stores and distribution centers in Washington, Idaho, Nevada, California, Oregon, Arizona, Utah and Texas.
