Turkeys

Mission Arlington is preparing to give out 5,200 turkeys to 26,000 people in the Metroplex this Thanksgiving, focusing primarily on communities in Arlington and Grand Prairie.

An estimated 6,000 volunteers will gather at Mission Arlington's main office at 8 a.m. Thursday morning to deliver turkeys, turkey baskets and hot meals to people in need.

Last Thanksgiving, Mission Arlington volunteers delivered meals to more than 25,000 people.

Monday morning, a group of 10th grade students from The Oakridge School and young children from Primrose School of NE Green Oaks in Arlington helped unload hundreds of turkeys into trucks in preparation for Thursday.

This comes after several volunteers came out this past Saturday in the wet weather to put together turkey baskets. Mission Arlington says people also bought and brought turkeys and Thanksgiving food to the mission throughout the day.
